It delegates some of its responsibilities to its Cabinet, Professional Boards and the Institution's subsidiary companies:

- Engineering Professional Board
- Business and Science Professional Board
Cabinet is responsible to Council for delivering policy objectives set by Council in the Corporate Plan. It comprises:
- A Chairman
- The Presidential Team
- Lead Member for Membership, Branches and Groups
- Lead Member for Professional Development
- Lead Member for Technical Affairs
- Lead Member for International Affairs
- Lead Member for Engineering
- Lead Member for Business and Science
- Lead Member for Commercial Activities
- The Executive Director
