Arts & Environment Initiatives – A Rationale for the Scope of CIWEM’s Engagement

In addition to national networking and maintaining an overview of practice and policy, CIWEM has been developing involvements in a number of individual initiatives on art and the environment. This ranges from supportive associations with others, to being a principal project proponent itself.

The Arts & the Environment Network Steering Group has devised a rationale for guiding decisions on the scope of this, and on the depth of any individual engagement. A summary of this rationale is provided here , since it may help those considering a collaboration with CIWEM to see the approach being taken.

This summary takes the form of a decision flow-chart. Boxes in the chart are underpinned by more detailed criteria which help to interpret each step (these are not reproduced here, but they may be added at a future date). In the meantime a link is provided to CIWEM's Policy Position Statement on arts and the environment, which gives the context for all engagements in this area.

Anyone wishing to discuss potential collaborations within this framework is invited to contact arts@ciwem.org
