I welcome you to our CIWEM branch website and hope you will be regularly visiting this page for information and our branch news update.

I am very lucky to chair the branch committee during 2007/08 and, together with our committee members, will provide helpful information and service to our branch members and the new member through our activities.

Our objectives for the forthcoming year are:

• This year the branch theme and activities will emphasise on climate change and global targets and innovations to combat adverse effect on environment.
• Promote CIWEM to achieve increased membership among branch members and new graduates.
• Promote CIWEM Affiliates status concept for Academic/ Business organisations.
• Improve communication with membership in order to maintain their interest. Events Update on website, etc..
• Have varied and interesting events programme, competitions, site visit and social.

Your Committee has put together an eclectic programme of meetings, papers and seminars which I commend to you. A special effort has been made to provide as wide a range of topics as possible within the constraints of the year's more formal events and I thank the Committee for their help in planning the 2007/08 programme.

Also look out for the forthcoming photo competition planned this year with cash awards for the winner/s.

I am pleased to report that the New Members Group continue to demonstrate their enthusiasm by organising their own events.

It is proposed to hold an afternoon seminar/workshop where prospective members can seek advice about their route to membership on a one-to-one basis with a CIWEM mentor or membership specialist.

Please come along and support your Branch events throughout the coming year. There you will find a warm welcome, some stimulating debate and an ideal opportunity to enhance your CPD. I am really looking forward to meeting you and in some small way helping to share knowledge and understanding of the many aspects of water and environmental management.
