The committee has worked hard to bring you another rich and varied programme of meetings this year, which I hope you will take advantage of.  I am sure it will be valuable for CPD and for networking.

To try to make the scheduling easier to remember, we shall be holding the regular evening meetings on the second Tuesday of each month, except for April when we have to go to the third Tuesday because of Easter.

The mini-conference format seems to be attractive so we are repeating it with a very topical subject – “Reducing carbon footprint - How do we do it?” which will be on 29th October at leading City law firm CMS Cameron McKenna.  The programme will cover carbon allowances and trading, which can be mechanisms for driving footprint reduction, and biomethane and how to obtain it.

The Metropolitan Branch is very grateful to those who sponsor its programme, because of their generosity many of our meetings are free of charge and where we do have to charge to cover overheads, the fees are considerably reduced because of sponsors’ help.

The capacities of our venues are limited so it is essential that you register for events (even the free ones) to avoid the disappointment of finding an event is already fully booked when you arrive.

I hope you will find things to interest you in this programme, and if you do not, please let us know what you would like to see instead or in addition.  If you have ideas for the programme, we would love to hear from you.

I’m really only keeping the Chairman’s seat warm for Will Richardson, who will be eligible to take up the role of Chairman when he becomes a full member.  You and friends and colleagues will be very welcome at Metropolitan Branch meetings irrespective of whether you are a member or not.  I and the rest of the committee look forward to seeing you.  Our contact details are on the Committee page.
