Academic Accreditation
CIWEM will accredit academic courses to meet the educational
requirements for membership of the Institution at appropriate
grades, provided that:
- the academic content of the course(s) relate to the disciplines
of the water and environmental management professions as specified
in the Institution's Charter and Bye-Laws, and, if
appropriate;
- they meet the criteria and standards of the relevant
Registration Authority, e.g. the Science Council and Society for
the Environment. (Please note that CIWEM is not licensed to
accredit academic courses on behalf of the Engineering
Council in support of UKSPEC. If an institution is interested
in arranging an accreditation visit in order to achieve this, and
does not have links with other licensed professional engineering
institutions, please contact the Engineering Council for advice: Sian
Lee, Accreditation Executive, Engineering
Council, 246 High Holborn, London, WC1V 7EX Tel:
020 3206 0500).
Educational institution's programmes that are professionally
accredited have subjected their curriculum and facilities to a
demanding evaluation against external standards commonly held by
the profession concerned. The Institution has been invited to carry
out a number of such evaluations, and these are listed below.
