The Best Diploma Student Award 2008 was presented at CIWEM's Annual Conference, Water and the Global Enivironment on Wednesday 29th April 2009.
The Best Diploma Student Award 2008, sponsored by the Environment Agency went to Mike Rose. Mike joined United Utilities in 1998, as an Apprentice Process Controller in Operations, working at Davyhulme Wastewater Treatment Works from 2000.
He joined Asset Management in 2006 as Catchment Analyst and enrolled on the CIWEM Certificate and Diploma leading to an MSc in Water, Energy and the Environment as part of his personal development plan and to ensure that he had a transferrable qualification.
He currently works as a Catchment Manager with responsibility for the Douglas River Basin, ensuring long term stewardship of the assets and that the current investment meets the needs of the business. He is currently completing his dissertation on “Carbon in the Water Industry".
