The Best Certificate Student Award 2007, sponsored by Atkins went to Paul Holton. Paul has been working for Mid Kent Water for three years having studied Geography at degree level. He works in the Water Resources Department and has had experience in a wide range of aspects of water resource planning and management. He studied the CIWEM Certificate part time at Bristol University. His award was presented at the CIWEM AGM by Bob Sargent, the outgoing CIWEM President, on 6th September 2007.
The Best Diploma Student Award 2007 and the Best Overseas Student Award 2007 were presented on Wednesday 10th October 2007, at the Global Environment 2007, CIWEM’s 5th Annual Conference.
The Best Diploma Student Award 2007, sponsored by the Environment Agency went to Sophie Peacock. Sophie has worked for Wessex Water for four and a half years starting in the Developers Group and then as part of the River Ecology Team. She is currently the sustainability coordinator for the company and on the CIWEM Structured Training Scheme. She studied part time at the University of Bristol and has now completed both CIWEM’s Certificate and Diploma after three years hard work.
The Best Overseas Student Award 2007, sponsored by United Utilities went to Jeffrey Misomali. Jeffrey graduated from the University of Malawi in 2006 with a BSc in Environmental Science and Technology, which he specialised in Environmental Management. He undertook the CIWEM Certificate and Diploma to broaden his understanding of Environmental Management at International level. He completed both qualifications at the University of Bristol this year.
