5. CIWEM and Climate Change
Last month 40 representatives from CIWEM’s various Groups, Branches and Panels met with key external stakeholders and CIWEM’s national office staff to consider how the Institution should respond to climate change. Participants discussed how CIWEM can expand its contribution to scientific debate and policy development on climate change at regional, national and international level and also develop and use its Members’ expertise in this area.
The interactive format of the workshop proved successful in formulating innovative ideas and at the end of the day nearly a hundred potential actions for CIWEM were drawn up. More information about the results of the workshop is available at www.ciwem.org/policy/climate_change.asp
If you are interested in learning more about climate change impacts, the Water Framework Directive, water recycling or catchment management then a good place to start is CIWEM’s Information Resources area: www.ciwem.org/resources/
