Event Description

The Canal & River Trust is a charity responsible for 2000 miles of waterways in England & Wales. The waterways are a much loved national asset which attract over 110 million visits per annum. Visitors enjoy walking, running, cycling, fishing, boating in a much needed stress free environment.
In order to maintain this incredible resource the Trust receives income from a number of sources which total approximately £180m per annum. These sources include commercial revenue from using its water assets for renewable energy. In the future hydropower and renewable heat will be a valuable non-consumptive source of income. Additionally, the reform of the water sector will open up competition which the Trust believes will deliver additional commercial opportunities. So come along and hear how the Trust uses its assets to support the development of renewable energy and how it might support competition in a reformed water sector.
There will also be homemade cakes at this event! Refreshments will be available from 6pm, with the presentation starting at 6.15pm.
The CIWEM East Midlands New Members Group will be holding their Annual General Meeting following the main presentation, starting at approximately 7.30pm.
