9th Product Innovation Afternoon & Evening (1)

United Utilities Mereside Conference Centre, Lingley
Green Avenue, Lingley Mere
Warrington, Cheshire, WA5 3GR
'A Pipeline Industries Guild event supported by CIWEM to
explore new products, services and technology that could transform
the industry.'
In the current financial climate, one could argue, that never
has there been a greater need to think about doing things
differently, more efficiently, and with less use of precious raw
material, waste, and energy. Industry suppliers will be
exhibiting, innovative products and services that are not widely
recognised in the market place. The suppliers will display,
demonstrate and talk about their products. The exhibition
will open at 12am.
The aim of the event is to have an informal meeting so people
can come and go as they please, learn about alternative solutions
& techniques to various problems, or just to mingle and
network.
Later in the afternoon, each exhibitor will have 5-10 minutes to
present their product. These presentations will be judged and
a winner announced at the end of proceedings.
12:00 Exhibition Starts
17:00 Buffet and refreshments
17:30 Innovation Competition - presentations by
exhibitors
20:00 Close
Please note: The exhibition is open to all from
12:00 to 17:00 and no prior booking is required if you just wish to
attend the exhibition. If you wish to attend in the evening for the
buffet and presentations, please pre-book. This will allow us to
ensure there is sufficient space and catering.

The Catchment Based Approach - From Pilot to Roll Out
The Queens Hotel, City Square, Leeds
Limited Places - Application Process - Closing date:
Sept 4th
Conference Aim The Catchment Based Approach was
launched by Richard Benyon in March 2011 and since then a good deal
of learning has been undertaken through the pilot programme.
Discussion and planning is currently underway for the roll-out
project. The aim of this interactive conference will be to test
issues that need to be addressed by the roll-out project to
establish a high level catchment group in each of the English Water
Management Catchments from 2013. This will be significant step
towards achieving integrated catchment management and will help
facilitate more effective delivery.
The Programme In eight sessions key roll-out
project issues will be clarified and discussed in detail. These
will include. The roll-out project, The Government's policy,
Multiple benefits, Geographic scale and delivery, The Tasks
to be completed, Funding, Stakeholder engagement and Review
Who is this meeting for? It is for two main
groups of people: Those will be directly involved in
preparing the roll-out project with Defra and the EA. Those
who will be heavily involved with implementing the roll out
project
The application process
Some key points: * We have limit on attendance of 100 for
organisational and capacity reasons
- We know from past experience that we will get more
applications than the space available
- For this particular meeting which will focus on the
roll-out project we are using an application and selection process
since we need to involve stakeholders who are either involved in
the CaBA Pilot programme or who will be directly involved in the
roll out project.
- Please think hard about prioritising the people who must
attend this event; we will be making the selections to ensure that
we get a good cross section of the key stakeholders
- One individual per form
- If you would like to attend complete and return the
application form
- Return it to bob.earll@coastms.co.uk
by SEPTEMBER 4th
- There will no charge for the meeting
- Shortly after this date you will be notified whether your
application has been accepted; if it has you will be sent a formal
invitation and the joining details.

Introduction to CIWEM Membership 1 of 2

Bristol University, Queen's Building, University Walk,
Bristol, BS8 1TR

Contact: Joanna Goodwin
Gaining membership to a professional institution can seem like a
daunting process. To help ease the process for new and potential
members of CIWEM we will be hosting two "Introduction to CIWEM
Membership" workshops in Bristol and Exeter.
These sessions aim to provide attendees with information on
available grades of membership and find out what's involved with
the membership process.
It will also be a great opportunity for us to help you find a
suitable mentor, get information about useful training
opportunities, meet colleagues at a similar professional level and
start to build a support network.
These are free events* and aimed to give a general overview. We
are hoping to host some more structured sessions later in the year
on how to compile competencies, tackle the technical report and wow
the professional review panel.
To confirm your attendance please email: Joanna.Goodwin@pbworld.com
to attend the Bristol workshop and Jemma.Bennett@mouchel.com
to attend the Exeter workshop.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
Joanna Goodwin and Jemma Bennett
(CIWEM SW Branch New Members Coordinators)
* Attendance is free. If cancellation is necessary we require 24
hours notice or a charge of £5 will be incurred to cover catering
costs and to ensure spaces are not wasted unnecessarily.
