Location: St Germans Pumping Station  & Great Fens, Peterborough / King's Lynn

A Visit to the recently completed St Germans Land drainage Pumping Station - the UK's largest with a design capacity in excess of 100 tonnes of water per second, serving 700km2 of land and 24,000 properties from flooding in Cambridgeshire.

Followed by a visit to the Great Fen Project - a 50-year landscape scale project to create a huge wetland area, partially funded by £7.2 million from the Heritage Lottery. It is one of the largest restoration projects of its type in Europe covering 3,700Ha. Currently a RIBA led competition is underway for the visitors centre which has attracted over 200 entries from architects in the UK and from around the world.
