In recent years water
companies across the UK have had to produce or update their
Water Safety Plans (WSPs). It is now time for the industry to
look back on this process and ask:
- What's next for WSPs?
- Do they sit on a shelf, or are they working documents that are
being continuously updated?
- How were WSPs done differently by different
- What were the practical benefits and challenges of the WSP
- What could be done differently next time?
This seminar will bring together consultants, water company
managers, consumer groups, and regulators to share WSP
good practices and report specific issues and challenges which have
arisen. Discussions will consider the role of WSPs
from a broader perspective than just what goes on within the
treatment works - i.e. from the catchment to the consumer and will
consider their integration into company practices and auditing of
the plans by third parties.
Speakers will represent the broadest possible geographic
representation from across the UK, to compare WSP
approaches regionally and in private supplies. There will
also be international contributors who have experience of training
and introduction of WSPs into rural communities where there is
little technical expertise available.
