Event description
Please note that content in this webinar has changed, so we will now be looking at SuDS and water quality in a wider context.
Join us for an insightful presentation on Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and their crucial role in enhancing water quality.
The UK government is planning to consult on the implementation of Schedule 3 of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 that will mandate SuDS in new developments in England. While already in effect in Wales, the decision underscores the growing recognition of SuDS as a vital tool in integrated water management.
In recent years, SuDS have gained traction and are a requirement in most local planning policies. Current SuDS policy is generally focused on achieving a reduction in surface water discharge rate, with limited requirements and detail on water quality. As a result, the potential for SuDS to reduce pollution and help address water quality challenges across the UK is currently underexplored.
How effective are SuDS currently at improving water quality? Have the SuDS Statutory Technical Standards implemented in Wales helped? How are other countries integrating water quality as a key aspect of SuDS design? What role does integrated water management play in achieving a multitude of benefits including water quality?
These key questions will be addressed in the webinar featuring insights from industry experts with extensive experience in the field of SuDS.
