Group information

The Scientific Group is one of three specialist groups within CIWEM and deals with scientific aspects of management of the water cycle.

The group holds at least 10 meetings per year, some of which are joint events with the branch in the area where the venue is located. Meetings take place throughout the UK. The group's programme includes an annual Young Author's competition for the Geoff Greaves Trophy.

It is intended that most meetings will be recognised by the Institution for CPD.

The group has approximately 800 members, the majority of whom are employed by UK Water Companies, Scottish Water, the Environment Agency and SEPA. There is also a substantial membership drawn from consultants, contractors, academic institutions and Local Authorities.

New members are most welcome and applications should be sent to the group's Membership Secretary. The committee is also seeking new members, particularly from Wales and Southern England. Applications for Scientific Group membership or nominations to serve on the committee should be sent to the group's New Members Representative:
