Job Preview
The Arup Environmental and Sustainability team provides
specialist advice on all aspects of the development process. We
have a particular local strength in the supply of that advice to
the Energy, Water, Highways and the Waste sectors and in the
associated major project consenting regimes across the UK.
Due to expansion, we are looking to recruit a permanent
Associate to the team to further strengthen our growing offer in
these sectors.
Previous consultancy experience is highly desirable, and a
background environmental impact assessment, sustainability
appraisal, planning and/or environmental science is highly
advantageous. Suitable candidates should preferably be chartered,
with around 10-15 years postgraduate experience in the
environmental or sustainability services including BEng/BSc in an
Environmental Discipline and full membership of an appropriate
professional institution eg. IMEA, CIWEM
Responsibilities:
•
Undertaking project management of environmental appraisal,
environmental assessments and environmental design development
•
Input into the feasibility studies and sustainability/carbon
advice
•
Support with team management
•
Business development with internal and external clients
•
Preparing and overseeing the preparation of tender
documentation
•
Financial management of environmental projects and ensuring works
carried out within agreed budget.
•
Supporting senior management in business and technical
development
•
Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior members of the
team
•
Representing Arup externally and promoting the philosophy of the
firm
Requirements:
•
Have good awareness of environmental management beyond own
discipline
• Be
able to design and deliver environmental solutions on major and/or
complex projects
•
Strategic thinker with proven experience of developing and
implementing creative and successful engineering or consultancy
solutions
•
Excellent programme management skills including the ability to
handle multiple projects
•
Expert in providing environmental guidance and direction on
multi-disciplinary projects
•
Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal)
•
Ability to motivate individuals to work collaboratively as a
team
•
Excellent people management skills and experience of managing staff
at all levels
•
Able to quickly develop successful client relationships
•
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines is
essential
•
Able to demonstrate strong commercial awareness
