AMEC is a focused supplier of high-value consultancy, engineering and project management services to the world's oil and gas, minerals and metals, clean energy, water and environmental sectors. Our environmental business in the UK forms part of a global Environment & Infrastructure division with 7,000 employees around the world.

In order to satisfy a predicted increase in workload in the water treatment and waste sectors, both within the UK and globally, the process team within the North East of England requires additional process engineering resources to help satisfy demand.

The type of work undertaken is extremely varied and our client list includes multinational oil and petrochemical companies, major waste contractors and PFI consortia plus a number of well established UK water companies.  Current projects include: -

  • FEED level studies relating to produced water treatment from oil refineries and tank depots within the Middle East;
  • Process design of a number of solid waste treatment facilities;
  • Treatment of leachate from a number of landfill sites using conventional and novel treatment processes;
  • Technical adviser and Independent Certifier to major EfW contracts;
  • Design frameworks for a number of UK based water companies.

The North East based process engineering team has a 20-year track record in delivering high profile and challenging water treatment projects, gained from the treatment of industrial waste waters from some of the UK's largest industrial petrochemical facilities such as the Teesside (Wilton) and Scotland (Grangemouth) to name but two.

The positions available in Newcastle upon Tyne will offer the right individual an opportunity to participate in the process design of any number of engineering projects ranging from UK based conventional water and waste treatment to more specialist opportunities abroad through AMEC's global customer base.

Qualified to degree level or equivalent in Chemical Engineering, you will preferably be a Chartered Engineer with a proven track record in the process design of industrial (preferably petro-chemical/ oil & gas) waste water treatment systems.
