Senior Engineer

WRc requires a Senior Engineer to join our team engaged in supporting water service providers in the areas of operational and capital maintenance planning.  Areas of work include deterioration modelling, whole-life costing, risk assessment and the optimisation of data collection and management.  The ideal candidate will have experience of strategic exposure in the Water Industry and be able to apply risk based procedures to WI assets.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of studies developing and applying innovative techniques, which aim to improve the industry's understanding of long-term asset performance and serviceability and the associated financial needs, and more specifically:

  • Providing technical direction to relevant projects
  • Managing and overseeing the delivery of projects
  • Keeping up to date with all developments relevant for the water industry
  • Building and maintaining positive client relationships
  • Preparing appropriate bid documents
  • Participating in multi-disciplinary project teams as and when required

The role has access to extensive support from a team of fellow engineers and modellers, working alongside other environmental and engineering disciplines.

Personal Attributes

Candidates should have:

  • A first degree in an engineering field (civil or mechanical)
  • Significant experience of the UK Water Industry in a strategic and operational capacity
  • Practical experience of the construction of water and wastewater networks
  • A demonstrable understanding of the regulatory system
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Good report writing skills
  • Capability to develop new opportunities through proposals and building client relationships
  • Experience of leakage and water resource planning would be an advantage
