The Role:

We currently have two exciting opportunities for a Senior Engineer to join our Water Management team in Peterborough and Exeter.  Our Water Management UK team is continually in demand worldwide for projects involving coastal and river management and the enhancement of the society. Our broad knowledge and experience enable us to find practical solutions for the most complex of problems, for example flood risk management against the backdrop of climate change and coastal erosion.

You will be a technically skilled and effective Senior Engineer working as part of a team of engineers delivering detailed designs on a range of fluvial flood risk management schemes.  Although part of a team you will be expected to take on responsibility at an early stage. Your involvement in and contribution to the project team, which may include other disciplines within the company, will be actively encouraged.

You should be able to work independently and be responsible for deliverables.  You will be expected to plan your own time and assist the team leader and project managers in determining the resource requirements for your work. You will play positive role within the Team and Advisory Group

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Specification and management of 3rd parties undertaking surveys and investigations.
  • Designing solutions to reduce flood risk in the fluvial environment, including appropriate calculations.
  • Consideration of buildability, materials, construction risk and sustainability in the designs you produce.
  • Incorporate H&S into the design process and produce CDM hazard logs.
  • Prepare Works Information including the drafting of specifications to enable construction.
  • Drafting and checking drawings produced by Technicians.
  • Supervision of construction or investigations.
  • Undertaking other tasks within the field of coastal and rivers engineering such as contributing to the production reports and studies.

 

Other Duties:

  • Carry out any duties which your line manager may reasonably request within the broad parameters of your role.

Qualifications and Experience:

You will be enthusiastic about working in this field and possess a Masters or Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering.  You will be an experienced engineer within a similar role close to achieving Chartered Engineer status or will have recently achieved this.
