The NFU is looking for a talented and dedicated individual to take the lead on relevant environment policy issues pertaining to agriculture.
You will need to monitor the legislative horizon to ensure policy formulation is in line with members’ interests ahead of and after the UK leaves the European Union. You will coordinate an advocacy approach that ensures the delivery of policies that are sympathetic to the agricultural community. To achieve this, you will represent the NFU in discussions and negotiations with key stakeholders as required and take responsibility for briefing our policy team, the NFU’s Environment Forum and Officeholders.
A degree in Geography, Environmental Science or a related subject would be desirable, as is having the understanding of the farming industry and the associated environmental agendas at national and EU levels.
You will have a proven track record of being able to build strong internal relationships with both colleagues and external stakeholders and have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. An ability to provide relevant and accurate information within set timeframes is critical to this role. An imaginative problem solver and team player, you will have the ability and enthusiasm to manage a diverse and challenging workload whilst remaining calm and organised under pressure.
