East Sussex County Council is recruiting for a Drainage Officer. This appointment which focuses on assessing the flood risk implications of new development requires a range of skills and abilities including experience of designing and assessing drainage strategies, the use of GIS in identifying and communicating local flood risk, and a knowledge of the planning system and the development process. The role will also involve providing support to the team’s Principal Drainage Officer on particularly complex drainage schemes and on planning appeals.
In addition to this, the post holder will assist the team’s Flood Risk Management Officer in processing applications for Ordinary Watercourse Consent; participate in public engagement and partnership projects/events and technical support to other team members.
Opportunities to work on local area studies such as surface water management plans, local flooding (section 19) investigations and related projects will also feature.
