  • Base Salary: £40-45k p.a. based on experience; with On Target Earnings potential to circa £60k

The Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) is the Institution of Choice for Water and environmental professionals. We are seeking an experienced, full time Sales and Business Development Executive (BDE) to lead the development of all our revenue streams and services to our members and partners. This includes existing commercial activities such as advertising in publications and other media, training courses, events and jobs site. The attainment of sponsorship for our activities is an essential part of this role as is the promotion of individual and corporate membership of the Institution and services to academia.

You will draw upon the expertise within our executive team and volunteer specialists to develop our business development strategy and build value propositions for CIWEM’s services tailored to the needs of our members, partners and other clients.

Whilst upholding the requirements of CIWEM’s Royal Charter your primary aim will be to generate income that can be used to further our aim and mission and build lasting business relationships.

About You

  • Ideally you will have experience of a professional membership body and the charities sector.

Key to this role is:

  • Experience of creating and delivering business development strategies in order to generate income, driving maximum value and benefit
  • Delivering intelligent and engaging presentations, face-to-face meetings and regular calls with existing and prospective clients to build relationships
  • Initiating new ideas and creating proposals which increase revenue streams
  • Confidence in leading any briefs or proposals from members/agencies/prospects and using wider knowledge of the full marketing mix
  • Be a constructive team worker able to translate colleagues’ activities and knowledge into compelling value propositions.
  • Team and Agency management
  • Be a relationship builder with an ability to understand clients’ needs and develop compelling services that meet those needs
  • Sponsorship generation and management – ability to demonstrate Return on Investment
  • Be organised and work with our CRM system to manage client contact information and knowledge to plan meetings, mobilising colleagues as appropriate
  • Have experience in structuring, winning and managing complex deals and partnerships
  • Have persuasive skills needed to translate client interest into orders effectively
  • Good presentation and proposal writing skills are therefore essential
