East Anglian Branch Events - 2014-15 Programme

This year's theme will feature live interactive web broadcasts by leading environmental speakers, presented in local 'hubs' around the East Anglian region, and recorded for future access. More details can be found on the CIWEM Inspire website.

    Inspire a Generation: Tour of Cambridge Water Recycling Centre

    Cambridge WRC is currently undergoing an extensive expansion following a £21million investment from Anglian Water.

    This free site visit is part of the 2014/15 theme of "Inspiring Environmental Behaviour". We're also planning to record the site visit and a link to the recording will be added to the CIWEM Inspire webpage.

    To attend, please register your interest at our booking website , stating if you are a CIWEM member. The tour will start promptly at 5pm. The site visit has a limited number of spaces and these will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.

    Please also note that as this is a working site you will need to bring suitable PPE (high-vis jacket, safety boots and hard hat).

    Branch AGM and broadcast talk by Jarvis Smith (#CIWEMinspire)

    Before the talk, we will hold our Annual General Meeting, reflect on the past events, elect / re-elect committee officers and set out our aims for the next year.

    Broadcast by Jarvis Smith 18:30 - 19:30 from Peterborough (RHDHV in Bretton)

    This is our final seminar on the 2014/15 theme of Inspiring Environmental Behaviour(#CIWEMInspire). The free seminar will be broadcast to a number of venues (hubs) across our region to reduce travel and reach more people. Hubs are at Cranfield University, Cambridge (Mott MacDonald), University of East Anglia and University of Essex.

    Jarvis Smith started his environmental journey living 3 weeks on a landfill for a Channel 4 documentary. Following this he created a green magazine called PQ

    He's regularly given speeches over the past few years for various entities including BBC World Service, Veg Fest and Solar Energy UK. Jarvis will talk about his journey, why he founded the People and Environment Achievement (PEA) Awards, his experiences and challenges.
