East Midlands New Members' Group
The East Midlands New Members' Group (NMG) was founded in 2012 with
the help of the main East Midlands Branch Committee, with the
purpose of providing a local platform for new members of CIWEM to
engage in various activities to aid the development of their
The NMG is at its core an advanced networking platform where the
role of the new members is to work together as a wider team and
co-ordinate available resources to provide the public at large
(experts in the field or otherwise) with new ideas, designs or
solutions that can provide new insights into the understanding or
regulation of the water/environmental industry.
The events result in the accrual of CPD towards your CIWEM
application, as the majority of the activities undertaken are
designed to increase personal competence by fostering/developing
interpersonal skills, increasing knowledge and encourage lateral
thinking to provide optimum, yet efficient outcomes. Many of the activities
organised also provide excellent opportunities for expert feedback
from leaders in the field in an open, diverse and highly supportive
For 2015 our objectives are to increase awareness of the NMG,
broaden our membership base throughout the East Midlands. To do
this we have planned a programme of social and workshop events and
seek to work closely with our neighbouring New Members Groups to
bring real benefits to our members.
