Message from CIWEM Scottish Branch Chair
Welcome to the CIWEM Scottish Branch site. We are an
active and enthusiastic branch and we believe that we have an
interesting and varied range of events for this season's
programme. Our aim this year is to deliver high quality
events with engaging subjects and speakers, and although the number
of events will be fewer this year, we will focus on reaching more
people and hope to beat last year's attendee total. Oh, and please
note that for nearly all events there is no charge to attend - see
below.
Starting with the New Members' Multi-Speaker event in October in
Edinburgh through to the Annual Diner in April, we have many events
on the programme - including the annual debate, which this time
will be on the rather contentious subject of Fracking. With
site visits, workshops and evening talks plus a couple of
supporting events we think that there is something for everyone and
we hope to see you at some of the events through the season.
If you are thinking about becoming a member the New Members'
Group are keen to deliver and will again be running two
"Multi-Speaker" events; one in Edinburgh and one in Glasgow, so if
you are new to CIWEM or thinking about joining, these events would
be a good introduction to share experiences with others.
Non-members, new members and even thinking-about-coming-a
member(s!) are all welcome to all events - you don't have
to be a member to attend and nearly all events are free to
attend. There may be a charge for workshops, but check each
flyer for details.
All members have been sent a programme, which can be downloaded here and for
upcoming events look to the right of this message.
Although we run the branch, we do this on your behalf. If
you have any thoughts about how the branch can offer future support
or thoughts on events for next year please get in touch or speak to
a committee member. We'd love to hear from you.
Regards,
Neil McLean
Scottish Branch Chair
and on behalf of the branch committee.
