Mentors

Robert Keirle -
I have been employed in the water and environmental sectors
since just prior to privatization of the water industry in 1989.
During this time, I have gained broad experience of environmental
and drinking water quality and water resources issues, having
worked for regulators (Environment Agency Wales and Ofwat), water
companies, academia and a consultancy.
Most recently, the research I undertook for my PhD focused on
catchment management and how different methods of land management
can impact on water quality. In my current role as Pollution
Programme Manager with the Marine Conservation Society I have
overall responsibility for the pollution you can see (such as
marine litter and sewage-related debris) as well as the pollution
you can't see (such as pathogens from water companies' continuous
and intermittent sewage discharges, and diffuse pollution -
including nitrates, pesticides and pathogens - from urban and
agricultural sources).
I am a Chartered Scientist, a Chartered Environmentalist, a
Chartered Water and Environmental Manager, a member of the British
Hydrological Society and a Corporate Member of CIWEM.
