Stephanie May - Scientist
Stephanie is the committee's EIANZ liaison member allowing CIWEM
Members access a wider range of professional development
opportunities within the New Zealand market. She is also one of
our upcoming members and is currently going through the
professional review process to become a full member of CIWEM.
Stephanie is a scientist with a broad understanding of ecology,
sustainability, planning, and social issues that forms the basis
for effective environmental management.
Stephanie has experience teaching environmental courses at the
University of Auckland and working for government organisations.
She currently works as a Resource Consent Planner - Wastewater
Infrastructure at Watercare Services Limited. This position leads
her to undertake Assessment of Environmental Effects (EIAs),
preparing freshwater and terrestrial ecological assessments,
inputting into feasibility studies and co-ordinating
multi-disciplinary teams to help deliver wastewater (and water)
infrastructure projects throughout the Auckland Region. Stephanie's
speciality is developing an understanding of projects, scoping
potential opportunities and developing strategic direction in
collaboration with major stakeholders to derive win/win
outcomes.
Stephanie has an active interest in conservation, New Zealand
natural history, and Maori culture. She also enjoys dancing,
cycling, spending time with her "puppy" Sophie (now 12 years old),
and catching up with friends and family over fine wine and
food.
