ZENEX MANAGING DIRECTOR SCOOPS ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR
Chris Farrell, managing director of Zenex, has scooped the
Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the annual New Energy Awards held
in London. The Awards, now in their fifth year and viewed as the
'Oscars' of the renewable energy sector, are designed to highlight
the achievements of management teams, companies and initiatives
that have made a significant contribution to the cleantech sector
within the last twelve months.
Viewed by the industry as a passionate pioneer, Chris Farrell
established Zenex in 2003 to develop technologies that would
address future energy needs and help to reduce carbon emissions
within the home and workplace. Since then over £3million has been
invested in creating a range of ground-breaking, energy-saving
British technologies that are designed to improve the overall
efficiency of domestic and commercial central heating boilers and
hot water systems. These include the Zenex GasSaver and the Zenex
Superflow.
Farrell was chosen by a judging panel of sector experts such as
the environmental economist, Paul Ekins from University College
London and John Loughead from the UK Energy Research Centre, in
recognition of his vision, creativity and commercial acumen over
the past ten years.
Chris Farrell said: 'I am honoured to receive this Award and
delighted that Zenex's achievements have been recognised. It is
also a fantastic accolade for British innovation. Adopting low
carbon heat technologies such as the GasSaver - with its proven
substantial financial and carbon savings - are vital for
decarbonisation and the long term energy future of the UK.
Moreover, it is technologies like ours that will help the
government deliver their new Heat Strategy and drive for maximum
energy efficiency.'
Zenex was also shortlisted for the Company of the Year
Award.
