Chief Executive

Terry is Chief Executive of CIWEM responsible for the delivery of the institution’s strategic aims, its services to members and the public interest. He has nearly 30 year’s experience as a River and Coastal flood risk manager having delivered major projects in some of the world’s most beautiful and challenging locations. Previously, Terry managed the rivers and coastal business for Jacobs Engineering and worked in their global business development group. Terry is a member of CIWEM and has served the institution on the committee of CIWEM's Rivers and Coastal Group between 2004 and 2011 and was chair during its 60th anniversary year in 2009. He has also served as a Board Trustee. Terry has always been active in helping to influence policy and research in flood risk management, exemplified through representing CIWEM and the Institution of Civil Engineers at a number of conferences including an international conference on adaptation to climate change, held in China and a joint conference with The American Society for Civil Engineers held in Canada. Terry firmly believes that water should be managed by considering the entire water cycle and all of the demands placed on water.

Responsible for CIWEM’s policy and parliamentary work and the work of CIWEM's technical panels and networks. Responsible for The Environment magazine and CIWEM’s technical journals and communications via website and social media.

Leads on CIWEM’s policy and parliamentary work. Provides support to CIWEM's technical panels and networks, producing policy, press and lobbying material and representing members’ views in external meetings.

Publications and Media Coordinator

Manages CIWEM's editorial office and works to develop and enhance the Institution's profile, liaising directly with the media and producing press releases and communications. Vicky also manages CIWEM's diverse portfolio of environmental awards.

  A freelance writer and editor, Erika is editor of CIWEM's environmental magazine The Environment, industry news publication CIWEM Business Briefing, and international publication The Global Environment.

Charnays’s role works closely with the CEO in the effective management of the organisation's HR, finance and governance processes. Charnay is the first point of contact for advice and support on a range of issues, including; recruitment, interviews, inductions, grievances, board matters etc. Her role over-arches the executive team and the CIWEM trustee board.

Head of CIWEM Venue & Facilities

As an accredited Mediator with a background in IT and Audio Visuals, Mohib is responsible for the overall day to day functions and direction of CIWEM Venue. This involves dealing with all venue hire enquiries, clients, members, finance, caterers and associated third party suppliers as well as planning, producing and effectively delivering all printed and online marketing and advertising materials in support of the venue, the serviced offices and CIWEM’s fully certified sustainable building.

Alex is responsible for the marketing of CIWEM’s Professional Development modules. This includes liaison with B2B clients as well as marketing to our members and other interested parties. Alex is the branching arm for all CIWEM’s Marketing Activities, including research and implementation for all departments in the organisation.
