Young Environmentalist of the Year
CIWEM Young Environmentalist of the Year Award, sponsored by Jacobs, recognises the outstanding contribution to environmental understanding made by a young environmental professional.
Are you passionate about working in the water and environment sector? Are you going above and beyond in your job? This is your chance to win some fantastic prizes.
The Award comprises of a trophy (a silver quaich cup), a framed certificate, publication of an article in The Environment Magazine (distributed to thousands of CIWEM members), a free pass to a CIWEM event* and a cash prize of £1000. The Award will be announced at the end of 2017.
How to enter
The closing date for entries is 31st May 2017. Please complete the CIWEM Young Environmentalist of the Year application form and return to Vicky West, Publications and Media Coordinator, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to undertake a presentation on a relevant topic of their choice at the CIWEM office in London on Wednesday 19th July 2017. Attendees will also have the opportunity to receive one to one membership advice and meet the executive team.
Teleconference facilities will be available for shortlisted candidates unable to attend judging in person.
Candidates must have their entry supported by their employer (usually line manager), or via a CIWEM Branch or Group. Candidates must be at the start of their career – with 5 years or less industry experience. You don’t need to be a current CIWEM member.
Each candidate will be assessed by a panel of judges including representatives of CIWEM and Jacobs, as well as independent suitably qualified individuals. In the first instance, judging will be based on the nomination form, according to the following criteria:
– Why they were nominated
– Work the nominee has carried out outside their normal remit
– Projects/Awards won
The judges’ decision on all matters relating to the competition is final.
