We are looking for an experienced and flexible Environmental Protection Officer to join the Environmental Protection Unit.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and flexible Environmental Protection Officer to join the Environmental Protection Unit.

The Environmental Protection Unit is responsible for Water Pollution Control in accordance with the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture responsibilities under the Water Pollution Act 1993 and Waste Regulations in accordance with the Public Health Act 1990 Part IV. 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small team with a very varied and interesting role where you can make a real difference in the protection of this special Island.

The main duties include:

  • Field incident response to pollution complaints
  • Enforcement in accordance with the Department’s Enforcement Policy
  • Inspection and regulation of licensed discharges and facilities
  • Prevention and minimisation of pollution
  • Annual reporting of the quality of Island’s controlled waters and waste management statistics
  • Policy, strategy and legislation development

A full valid driving licence is essential for this post.

Please note an enhanced police check is required for this post, which the Department will cover the cost of for you.
