The CIWEM Arts and Environment Network and CIWEM West Midlands branch are pleased to host this webinar open to members and non-members. It has wide appeal both to practitioners involved with regeneration, remediation and conservation of wetlands or other natural landscapes and to non-specialists interested in how art and science can combine to increase understanding of the value of wetland environments.

Our first speaker is Robert Duff who will talk about how the Marches Mosses BogLIFE project is tackling water management, peatbog regeneration and reversion of woodland to bog, community engagement and remediation of a former car scrapyard located on the Fenn’s Whixall and Bettisfield Mosses NNR on the Anglo-Welsh border in North Shropshire.

The Mosses and Marshes project spans the planet from UK to Australia, bringing together artists, land managers and scientists to reimagine the future of these landscapes and the place they have in our communities. The project links the Fenn's Whixall and Bettisfield Mosses (UK) and Macquarie Marshes (Australia), both internationally significant Ramsar wetlands, rare habitats vital for resisting climate change and supporting biodiversity.

Andrew Howe, as lead artist in the UK for the project, will present some of the artworks in progress in both the UK and Australia where he is collaborating with artist, Kim V. Goldsmith. He will discuss how the arts play a vital role in connecting people, encouraging curiosity and engagement with landscape and nature.

The talks and following Q&A discussion will be hosted by Dave Pritchard, Chair of both the CIWEM Arts and Environment Network and Ramsar Culture Network.

This webinar will be hosted on the Zoom platform and will be recorded. Please note that registrations will close 24 hours before the event starts.
