A novel approach to disinfecting water using UV | WEBINAR

Event description

The need to disinfect drinking water has been recognised for several centuries, and methods have largely remained the same in that time. With the advancement of technology and understanding of chemistry, those methods have become more efficient and more reliable, but often remain chemically intensive. Ultraviolet (UV) radiation has only recently become a viable technology for disinfection in water treatment and is used in both waste and potable water applications.

This event will focus on a novel application of UV for disinfection at two of Northumbrian Water’s potable water treatment works. This presentation will show the options appraisal and the necessity of the project team to work with an agile scope to incorporate new technologies as they emerged in the market. We will also discuss the benefits of this system when compared with more traditional disinfection methods and other UV installations, in addition to the limitations and lessons learned.
