This joint webinar brought to you by the CIWEM Northern Ireland branch and the Institute of Water NI will provide an overview of the LWWP, Belfast Strategic Drainage Infrastructure Plan that was published in November 2021.
Our speakers will explore the key challenges that must be overcome to protect against flooding whilst enhancing the environment and providing increased capacity for economic growth.
Details of how the development of the scope of the projects is coming along will be covered, focusing on the procurement and delivery of larger projects and the mitigations being deployed due to constraints to development through lack of capacity.

Simon Richardson is DfI’s director of Local Wastewater Plans, LWWP, and is responsible for leadership of the LWWP. Shortly after commencing this role in early 2020 Simon began to manage development of the LWWP Belfast Strategic Drainage Infrastructure Plan document that was published in November 2021. Prior to this Simon was formerly a senior manager of DfI Roads.
Paddy Brow
Paddy Brow is Northern Ireland Water’s head of LWWP (Treatment). From 2015 to 2017 was seconded to DfI to set up the LWWP and from 2017 to 2021 was responsible for managing Northern Ireland Water’s input to the Belfast Strategic Drainage Infrastructure Plan. He is now responsible for delivery of the wastewater treatment elements of the plan
Stephanie Millar
Stephanie Millar is NIEA’s head of water management unit. Stephanie has been involved in the LWWP from inception in 2015 and led development of the environmental needs report and oversees the team that will approve the future discharge consents and standards that will inform the scope of many LWWP projects.
