About the Dr Jenkins Competition

The CIWEM West Midlands and East Midlands branches hold the annual Dr Jenkins Competition - looking for the best technical paper on any topic in the field of water and environmental management. The competition provides an opportunity for new and prospective members of CIWEM to present their technical papers.

Dr S H Jenkins was Chemist to the Upper Tame Main Drainage Authority and became a member of one of CIWEM’s predecessor intuitions in 1938, then a Fellow in 1944 and served as President in 1957. Throughout his career Dr Jenkins was active in his local branch and gave great encouragement to younger people in the water industry. He died in January 1983.

To commemorate and continue his support, this annual paper competition was established to provide a forum for young authors to promote their work and practice their presentation skills.
