In autumn 2021 the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust released two pairs of adult beavers to the Willington Wetlands Nature Reserve, marking the return of the species to Derbyshire for the first time in 800 years!
In this follow-up to ‘Beaver Reintroduction: Nature's engineers restoring an entire ecosystem in Derbyshire’ (September 2021), Kate Lemon (Derbyshire Wildlife Trust) will look at how the beavers have got on in their first year since relocation, and what impact they’ve had on the wetlands.
As the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust celebrates 60 years, we will also look at other work being carried out in the region by the trust and what they hope to achieve in the future.

Kate Lemon
Kate Lemon has worked in nature conservation for 25 years, leading teams of staff and volunteers on practical tasks across Derbyshire and managing a wide variety of projects including species reintroductions, large scale habitat creation and restoration and also managing DWT’s conservation farm and county-wide grazing for wildlife project.
This event is open to members and non-members of CIWEM.
