Event description

Dr Charlotte Adams, principal manager for R&D at the Coal Authority will be sharing the science behind how the heat from water naturally flowing through mines could be used to heat buildings in Britain’s coalfield areas.

Charlotte will talk about how this amazing opportunity could turn our mining legacy into part of our green future, using a low carbon, sustainable heat source which already exists beneath the ground.

Learn about two projects already underway in the North East and what using this kind of heat could mean for people living in these areas now and in the future.

The event is suitable for anyone interested in heat decarbonisation using mine geothermal, including consultants, public sector and wider industry.

Part of the CIWEM Climate Emergency Adaption & Resilience digital series.
