Event description

The CIWEM Northern Ireland branch is delighted to be returning to Stormont for their annual morning conference in 2025.

This year’s theme will be Agriculture and Environment: Making the connection.

Our speakers will explore the challenges that the water industry and environment face and focus on sustainable and innovative low carbon, energy efficient long-term solutions.

Topics covered at the conference, include: AI modelling, water quality and pollution, financial uncertainty and investment, as well as environmental legislation.

CIWEM members and non-members are welcome to attend. The conference will be split into 3 sessions with 2 speakers per session.

Demand for the event is anticipated to be high, so early booking is recommended.

Why attend the conference

The conference is open to all with an interest in how the agriculture and water sectors can work together to provide more resilient systems that protect the environment and address the climate emergency.


  • Hear from experts about the impact agriculture has on the environment and the innovative solutions that are being considered to deliver sustainable and innovative long-term solutions to help farmers and the water industry overcome these challenges.
  • Learn about the Northern Ireland Executive’s governance and funding model of NI Water, as well as the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG Legal Landscape), including the Net Zero and Global Warming commitments within today's corporate landscape.
  • Obtain an overview of the latest developments in climate change and resilience policy, strategy, science and best practice.
  • Share knowledge and experience with others in the profession and maintain your CPD.
  • Opportunity to network with a wide range of professionals from across the public and private sector.

This event is open to members and non-members of CIWEM.

Please note there is limited capacity at this event. Bookings must be made through 'My CIWEM' using the above booking link. Non-members who have not registered for the MyCIWEM system can create an account on the booking page in order to reserve their place.

About the venue and getting there

The event will take place at Stormont Estate, Upper Newtownards Road, Belfast, BT4 3SH.The venue is only 10 minutes’ walk from the Belfast Glider Stormont stop and several bus routes run near the venue.

Lanyon Place Train Station is the nearest mainline railway station to Stormont Estate and is at Lanyon Place Train Station, East Bridge St, Belfast BT1 3NR. Translink trains all to Belfast railway station for all those coming from outside Belfast.

By Bus | Coach

The No.G1 bus routes run nearest to Stormont

By foot | cycle

The Stormont Estate is 60 minutes’ walk from Lanyon railway station and bus station respectively and 20 minutes’ cycle ride.

By car

If you are coming by car, please consider sharing the journey with others to reduce your environmental footprint.


As this is an in-person event, please remain vigilant to control the spread of COVID-19 and stay safe.
