The CIWEM Northern Ireland branch invites you to their annual new members’ paper competition to watch the judging and support the selected finalists.
The event provides an opportunity for new and prospective members of CIWEM to present papers based on the CIWEM Northern Ireland branch’s general theme of the year, of "working smarter for a more sustainable tomorrow".
Presentations will be 15 minutes
long with 5 minutes of question time from the three judges.

The CIWEM Northern Ireland branch is holding an annual new members' paper competition for new student and graduate-level members and those who could become CIWEM members with less than five years of professional experience.

Robert Smith
Robert Smith is an engineering associate at McAdam Design. He is the chair of the CIWEM Northern Ireland branch and was the branch’s previous honorary treasurer.
The Judges
Michelle McNally BSc (Hons) PGDip MCIWEM C.WEM
Michelle McNally is a higher scientific officer within NIEA Water Management Unit’s Development Management Team. Michelle is a Chartered Water and Environmental Manager with over 13 years’ experience in environmental regulation within the public sector. Michelle has been a member of the CIWEM Northern Ireland branch since 2018 and is currently working towards a MSc in Environmental Management.
Daniel Hogan (BSc, MSc, CSci, C.WEM, MCIWEM)
Daniel Hogan is environmental consenting project manager working for ESB (Engineering & Major Projects). Daniel is the immediate past chair of the CIWEM Northern Ireland branch. Daniel has 11 years of post-graduate experience in the engineering and environmental consultancy industry specialising in environmental consenting for major port developments, cross country pipelines and energy projects in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Warren Boal BEng (Hons) MSc CEng MCIWEM C.WEM
A technical director with Amey Consulting, Warren is a Chartered engineer with over 25 years’ experience specialising in drainage and flood risk management. He is a committee member and past chair of the CIWEM Northern Ireland branch.

This event is open to members and non-members of CIWEM to attend on the evening.
