Event description

The CIWEM Northern Ireland branch invites you to their annual new members’ paper competition to watch the judging and support the selected finalists.

The event provides an opportunity for new and prospective members of CIWEM to present papers based on the CIWEM Northern Ireland branch’s general theme of the year, of "A New Environmental Dawn: understanding the challenges and possible solutions".

Presentations will be 15 minutes long with 5 minutes of question time from the three judges.

Bookings must be made through 'My CIWEM' using the above booking link and are only confirmed once you have clicked ‘proceed & submit’ in the cart and received a confirmation email. Should you be unable to attend the event after booking, please cancel to allow other delegates to take the place.

About the venue and getting there

The event will take place at Northern Ireland Water Westland House, 40 Old Westland Road, Belfast BT14 6TE in the FRC 1st Floor Conference Room. The venue is only 39 minutes’ walk from Yorkgate railway station and several bus routes run near the venue.

Travelling to the venue

As part of CIWEM’s commitment to tackling the climate and ecological emergency we would encourage delegates to use the most environmentally sustainable means of transport possible.

By Train

Yorkgate railway station is the nearest mainline railway station to Westland House and is at York Street, Belfast BT15 1FX. Translink UK trains run trains to Yorkgate railway station for all those coming from outside the city.

By Bus | Coach

The nearest bus stations are at Oldpark (Westlands Road), Westland Road and Clifton Circus, which are 5, 7 and 12 minutes’ walk from Westlands House respectively.

The no. 2J bus route runs from the Europa bus station, ( Europa Business Centre, 10 Glengall St, Belfast BT12 5AH), and is 25 minutes by bus from near the venue. Other services from the city centre that stop near the venue include the no. 80, 61, 12A, 12B, 12C and 80A buses.

By foot | cycle

The Westland House is only 39 minutes’ and 1 hours’ walk from Yorkgate railway station and the Europa bus station, respectively and 14 and 20 minutes’ cycle ride.

By car

If you are coming by car, please consider sharing the journey with others to reduce your environmental footprint.
