CIWEM invites you to join our 2023 virtual Presidential Induction. This year we welcome Bushra Hussain as CIWEM’s 37th President.
This event also serves as an opportunity to thank the 2022/23 President Steve Thompsett and Junior President Emily Shipton for the stellar work they have done and all that that they have achieved within their Presidential term. Steve and Emily will be presenting the 2023 CIWEM President's award and Junior President's award.
Following the formal part of our Presidential Induction event, we will hear a keynote speech International Strategist David Ross followed by a panel discussion with representatives from CIWEM’s global network spanning Dubai, Hong Kong, Auckland, Dublin and the UK. This will be an opportunity to explore the importance of connecting a global community, inclusive and accessible for all, which is this year’s presidential theme.

David Ross | International Strategist, Peacemaker and Author, Australia
David Ross is an international strategist and peacemaker. He coaches and advises leaders and organisations to successfully deal with their most complex – and often – controversial environmental, social, and economic challenges. David is brought in when leaders are grappling with how the traditional thinking and behaviours inherent within organisations no longer suffice in the face of our wicked problems. He is also brought in by clients when the mobs with the pitchforks are storming the barricades.
Concerned about how leaders and managers are struggling to cope with the seismic change we now face, David wrote the multi-award winning book, Confronting the Storm. In it, he argues that the traditional leadership styles that have been celebrated for centuries are now an obstacle to progress. Instead, he calls for a more collaborative way of leading – an argument which is amplified by the insights from some of the most inspiring leaders across the globe.
