Event description

Join the CIWEM Northern Ireland branch for the final technical talk of the year, where we will examine the broad issue of climate change and how it is impacting both water quality and biodiversity, using Lough Neagh as a specific case study.

During 2023, Lough Neagh has been subject to extensive blue-green algal blooms. The extent of the blooms has extended beyond the Lough as far as the north coast bathing beaches, causing disruption to recreational activities and businesses in both the Lough and further afield for many months.

The presentation will review the trends in both the lough and the catchment that explain some of the changes. It will also investigate what can be done to improve water quality.

CIWEM members and non-members welcome. This webinar is for water scientists and engineers with an interest in water quality, climate change and the related areas of biodiversity.

Part of the CIWEM Climate Emergency Adaption and Resilience series.

Register for 4 December 2023
