Hosted by the CIWEM President and British Hydrological Society
Event description
Our climate is changing, affecting all elements of our water environment. Recent events, such as the hot summer of 2022 and major storms in 2023, 2024 and on New Years Day 2025 highlight the impact that severe weather can have on our communities and environment. Our changing climate also impacts water quality, which creates a wider challenge for catchment management alongside other pressures, from storm water overflows, diffuse pollution and highways runoff.
This joint series of events between CIWEM and the BHS will explore the latest climate science to inform decision making on resilience and adaptation. It will run over a series of four weeks in February 2025 (5,12, 19 and 26).
The third webinar will review the effect of the climate emergency on water resources and groundwater, including exploring the latest research on low flows and groundwater, as well as considering drought and groundwater impacts. Featuring Miranda Foster, JBA; Rob Lawson, Artesia Consulting Ltd and CIWEM, and Environment Agency (speaker tbc).
All CIWEM and BHS members and non-members are welcome to join this series.
