Event description

Dook in a Book – the CIWEM Scottish Branch's bimonthly on-line gathering to explore and celebrate the stories, science and insights of our water and environment.

Each session we’ll dip and dive into articles, books and shared reflections generally inspired by a contemporary CIWEM key topic. Whether it’s a scientific insight, book, or technical article that you have come across, or a thought-provoking essay, this is your space to share, connect, discuss and inspire others who are passionate about water and environmental stewardship in Scotland.

The theme for session 2 of Dook in a Book will be Flood Resilience and Adaptation.

Part of CIWEM Socials and Networking.

Register for 13 May 2026

How it works

Each session explores books, articles, and ideas inspired by a CIWEM topic. Once you register, we’ll let you know the theme for each Dook in a Book session.

You’ll then be invited to suggest a book, technical article, essay, or other reading that you’d like to share with the group. A short running order of contributions will be circulated a day or so before the session, so everyone knows what to expect.

Then we meet online, share insights, spark discussion and discover new perspectives. After each session, we’ll publish a list of the readings discussed on a CIWEM platform, so the wider community can benefit too.

You can submit the books, papers or other reading via the online pre-event survey at Scottish branch | Dook in a Book | Suggested book or paper pre-event survey – Fill in form.

Bring a read that inspires you, share your thoughts and discover new ideas with fellow CIWEM members – together, we’ll dive into water and environmental topics that matter.
