Event description
As water companies face challenges such as climate change and population growth, a consistent approach to long-term planning in drainage and wastewater services is required. Drainage and wastewater management plans, (DWMP), have been developed in response to this need. They are a long-term strategic framework that set out how water companies intend to protect and enhance these systems, providing resilience and robustness.
A key part of the DWMP framework is to drive more collaborative and integrated management and planning between organisations who have responsibility for drainage, in order to provide best value for customers and protect the environment going forward.
The ten English and Welsh water and wastewater companies have committed to producing DWMPs in accordance with regulators. In this short presentation, Paul Hurcombe, a strategic asset manager at Severn Trent, will outline how DWMPS are being developed and what this means for water companies going forward.
