Join the CIWEM East Midlands will be holding a round table discussion on three environmental management topics.
The event will provide introductions to three environmental management themes before encouraging delegates to break into groups to openly discuss the pros and cons of each. The idea is to spark interesting debate to identify emerging themes important for the future of environmental management.
The themes are:
Flood risk management
Daniel Allum-Rooney (Pell Frischmann) will provide an overview of flood risk management and summarise the various approaches being taken on both a catchment-wide and local scale. The presentation will raise questions over how we seek to manage flood risk in a sustainable way that can adapt to future changes in climate.
Carbon Net Zero
Iqbal Rassool (BWB Consulting) will discuss BWB’s recent decision to pledge its commitment to achieving Net Zero targets by 2050 via the ‘Pledge to Net Zero’ initiative, what this means for the business and how they may integrate it into the business culture and ways of working.
Sustainable Drainage Systems SuDS
Michael Underwood (Envireau Water) will be discussing the current status of SuDS policy and what the delay to enacting Schedule 3 of the Flood and Water Management Act means for the design, approval and adoption of SuDS in England. The presentation will cover examples of recently completed schemes outlining what alternatives there are until SAB’s are established.
