The CIWEM Hong Kong branch have organised a technical visit to the Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park. One of five marine parks in Hong Kong, Hoi Ha Wan is a protected area, home to over 60 types of hard coral and 120 coral fish species.
The Jockey Club, HSBC and WWF Hong Kong Hoi Ha Marine Life Centre offers participants opportunities to appreciate our valuable marine resources. The WWF’s education activities provide interesting and interactive programmes to enhance the understanding of issues related to the marine environment and fisheries.
The aim of this visit is to give participants the opportunity to learn more about the state of the Hoi Ha Wan marine environment and to take part in collecting and recording the species of corals, fish and plankton found in the marine park.
Participants will arrive at Hoi Ha Village for a short briefing, before walking to Hoi Ha Marine Life Centre (about 10 mins on hiking trail) where we will observe and identify plankton through a microscope, collect species data and record the findings. This will be followed by a coral watching trip in a glass-bottomed boat, after which we will walk back to Hoi Ha Village.
Registration is at 8:15 at Main Entrance of Hong Kong Productivity Council, 78 Tat Chee Avenue, Kowloon Tong, Kowloon.Book now
