Event description

Building operational emissions contribute to approximately 30% of global energy-related carbon emissions. Encouraging building owners, especially in the private sector, to adopt green management practices and upgrade their building systems can significantly advance sustainability and help achieve carbon neutrality.

BEAM Plus EB v3.0 aims to boost participation in transforming existing buildings into “green” structures, promote energy savings toward net-zero emissions, and support educational initiatives that foster behavioural change. This version encourages a holistic approach to green enhancements for more energy-efficient and sustainable operations. BEAM Plus EB v3.0 stands out with the following features:

  • Addresses global climate challenges, physical constraints, and long-term facility management ease;
  • Introduces unique features that may set benchmarks for promoting sustainability worldwide;
  • Integrates new initiatives to enhance energy efficiency and environmental performance;
  • Aligns with the global goal of achieving net carbon zero by 2050;
  • Influences inhabitants' behaviour and lifestyle through demand-side management;
  • Supports the enhancement of aging buildings;
  • Includes existing buildings of all ages;
  • Offers various levels of practical requirements; and
  • Provides flexible implementation options to encourage broader participation.
