Event description

Section 19 (S19) of the Flood and Water Management Act places a clear duty on lead local flood authorities (LLFAs) to investigate significant flooding incidents and publish findings that help communities and partners learn from what went wrong. With increasing public scrutiny of flood response, greater expectations for transparency, and climate-driven changes in flood frequency and severity, effective S19 investigations are now more important than ever.

This webinar will explain the purpose and practical value of S19 work and consider the implications of the new S19 guidance recently published by the government, highlighting where current practice may need to change or be strengthened.

Attendees will hear about the practical steps for carrying out S19 investigations. The session is aimed at LLFA officers, local authority managers, emergency planners, councillors, consultants and partner organisations seeking pragmatic guidance to deliver robust, transparent and impactful S19 investigations and will include a Q&A session at the end of the presentations.

CIWEM members and non-members are welcome to join the webinar.
