MDA Flood Resilience Consultants

WEBINAR, United Kingdom

Whilst engineered flood defences, flood warnings, upper catchment measures and a wide range of other flood risk management interventions are making a real improvement to the number of households and businesses impacted by record flood events such as those seen this winter, there will be increasing need for resilience to be built into individual properties.

There is a need to rapidly increase the number of homes made more resilient through the installation of property flood resilience (PFR) measures. Whether by ‘building back better’ after a flood, or acting to ensure that when the next event occurs, properties will be impacted for days and not months or years, PFR must be rolled out in many communities.

  • How can the PFR Code of Practice launched earlier this year provide a foundation for widespread, reliable, affordable resilience?
  • How can we ensure that work is delivered at the rate and quality required to transition effectively away from Flood Re when the scheme ends?
  • What does the insurance industry need to be able to recognize PFR improvements in premiums?
  • What support is there for communities to take this up at scale?

Hear from those affected this winter about how PFR might have made all the difference to them. Learn about pathfinder projects set up to learn lessons on community engagement. Understand the requirements of the Code of Practice and debate how this growing industry must develop to ensure that access to PFR is affordable and equitable, and delivered to an appropriate standard.
