Hosted by the CIWEM Tyne & Humber branch
Event description
The Canal and River Trust look after the River Ure from Rippon downstream, which flows through the valley of Wensleydale in Yorkshire. When it reaches Swale Nab, it changes its name and becomes the River Ouse. There are waterfalls, wildflower meadows, woodlands and rugged hills as you travel along this river and canal system, with a number of endangered wildlife found in its waters, including otters, water voles, white-clawed crayfish and rare fish, such as river lamprey and Atlantic salmon.
Our speaker, Emma Bird from the Canal and River Trust. will provide an overview of navigational spot dredging along the Ouse and Ure Navigations and review how this impacts on the lamprey population in these rivers.
This webinar will be of interest to anyone looking to understand the roles of navigation authorities, how multiple environment topics intersect, and management of complex interactions.
