Event description

Due to unforeseen circumstances this webinar has had to be postponed until 26 September.

If you have already registered and still wish to attend, you do not need to do anything. However, if you are unable to attend on the new date, please cancel your booking on Zoom.

This event is designed for anyone who has an interest in seeing how we can take complex scientific and engineering outputs and convert them into visually stunning and interactive datasets, using gaming technology.

They will experience a live demonstration of how 3D models can have weather, foliage, people and vehicles added, to make them visually compelling for a non-technical audience to immediately understand. For the gamers out there, the software used runs on the Unreal 5 engine and is made by the developers of Fortnite, Fall Guys and Alan Wake.

We will then take a RealTime Virtual tour of the Bluidy Burn in Duns, a town in the Scottish Borders, where this technology has been applied to show the local community flood management schemes that have been developed specifically to benefit both people and wildlife.

Finally, we’ll go on a virtual adventure to Brighton, where this technology has been combined with data captured from drones, to see how the beach front is being regenerated to protect against wave over-topping.

CIWEM members and non-members are welcome to attend this technical talk and demonstration of cutting edge technology.

Part of the CIWEM Flood Resilience and Adaption and Technology series.
