CIWEM New Zealand Network and Water NZ will be holding a joint event looking at water re-use and integrated water management master planning.

There will be two presentations, the first of which will be given by James Mihelcic who will look at water re-use in the US, focusing on processes and associated challenges of water re-claimation in Florida. The second talk by Dan Stevens is entitled Growing Pains – The Western Water Story. He will tell us about his current work with Western Water in Victoria, which has a strong focus on Integrated Water Management, including treated wastewater re-use for agricultural irrigation and non-potable domestic use, and stormwater harvesting.

There will be drinks and nibbles from 5:30pm before the talks commence at 6:00pm New Zealand time.

About the Speakers

James R. Mihelcic PhD, BCEEM, Fellow WEF, Fellow AEESP

James is the Samuel L. and Julia M. Flom Endowed Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of South Florida (Tampa). He is currently residing in Christchurch as a visiting Erskine Fellow with the Department of Civil & Natural Resources Engineering at the University of Canterbury.

Dan Stevens CEnv, CWEM, MICE, FCIWEM

Dan is Business Director Water with Beca based in Christchurch and a Fellow of CIWEM. Dan has over 35 years’ international experience in the water industry specialising in water distribution and three water master planning. He has been the project lead for a number of infrastructure master planning projects in the UK, Australia and New Zealand
